Tariq Khoyratty, 26, made the 23ftladder, which is 6 inches wide, for less than £25 from four 6ft decking planks and strips of wood.

His girlfriend Nikki Wheeler, 26, came upwith the idea after their estate agent banned them from fitting a catflap totheir 17th century Grade II listed cottage's back doors.

Since building and installing it lastSaturday, their five-month-old ginger tom cat called Nelson has been constantlyrunning up and down the wooden structure.

这个阶梯其实是出自于Nikki的发想，而Nelson也使用得得心应手，常常上上下下去探险。楼梯是从二楼房间连出来，然后Nelson可以直接走到庭院去，非常方便。

"Our main concern was that Nelsonmight slip off the ladder, he has been known to fall off the back of the sofa,which is why I installed the rungs."

“目前我们比较担心的是Nelson会不会不小心从梯子上掉下去，因为牠曾经有从沙发上滑下去的纪录，所以可能会需要再加强部分安全措施”。
